IWC Schaffhausen and Fabian Cancellara came to NYC last week for an incredible ride hosted at Roula HQ supported by partners: The Laureus Foundation – Sports for Good, Mercedes AMG, BMC bikes and NTSQ.
A 82 strong rider field met at Roula HQ for a fuel based breakfast and quality espresso from Café Integral to power them into their morning miles. Riders started in one of 4 corals on a 45 mile round trip to The Market Café at the NY/NJ state line for a refreshment stop with fully supported SAG along the way on River Road and 9W care of Mercedes AMG.
IWC in true brand form provided a premium & elegantly designed full custom racing kit, including arm warmers (not needed on the day!) caps, gloves and socks to complete an incredible look on such a large group.
Fabian was great value to ride alongside, and mixed between each pack along the way for some great chat, support and motivation on some of the steeper climbs.
The groups were met back at Roula to a traditional cowbell reception followed by lunch with congratulatory remarks from IWC President North America, Darin Rabb and Olympic Gold medalist Ed Moses who talked to the Laureus foundation partnership. Then followed a fascinating Q&A with the legend himself Fabian Cancellara and questions from Travis McKenzie of NTSQ where the Olympic Champion shared incites on his past career, most memorable wins, the development of Chasing Cancellara platform and other motivational points for the captivated riding audience.
The day was rounded of with custom cocktails: The Paris Roubaix (Sidecar) and Milano-San Remo (Aperol Spritz) inspired by Fabians career wins, enjoyed as the sun set on the private members Classic Car Club terrace for an amazing finale to a special day.
